BLAKEDOWN WI
WELCOMES YOU!!
happy new year to all our members and future members
Christine Rostron
President Blakedown WI
Blakedown WI held its first meeting in 1920 so this year we shall become 103 years old.
As President of Blakedown WI, I walk in the footsteps of over 100 years of inspirational and hard working former Presidents, committee members and intelligent and progressive members. We are a friendly and positive group with a whole range of interests and ideas with the opportunity to sample different crafts and activities and a wide range of speakers. Become a member of Blakedown WI and have fun while socialising and also gaining knowledge and experience with like minded ladies.
Every month we have a speaker on a wide range of issues both local and topical. We also have practical demonstrations on cookery and crafts. Over this last year we have welcomed Will Farmer, auctioneer and expert from Antiques Roadshow, Reg Moule who gives gardening advice on Radio Hereford and Worcester and speakers as diverse as making and decorating the perfect cup cake to the wonders and beauty of the Japanese Kimono . Look at some of the photos and video on our Facebook!
You may like to join our book club or join our crafting sessions - Christmas Wreath making in December. Join our summer days out visiting members gardens as we open up gardens for the summer or join local interest visits such as Hagley Hall which we visited in March.
Come along to a meeting and see if you enjoy what we do. We warmly welcome all prospective members as visitors.

Catherine Clark led our second Christmas wreath making class in December and the results were all so different but absolutely stunning

October birthday meeting
102 years old!! A very special meeting where members enjoyed a glass of wine and slice of delicious cake made by our member and committee member Wendy Edwards. Kath Lahive was asked to cut our cake.
We also had a beetle drive with some very frenzied shaking of dice - would that 6 never come?
For the first time since 2019 we held our Annie Harrison Plate competition and 14 members produced a wonderful variety of rock cakes, judged by Wendy who awarded the plate to Jane Mottram.
An evening that really showed what WI is all about - fun and friendship
